I chose DJ Paul AKA The Apostle because I feel my life relates to that of the Apostle Paul as his life was transformed on the road to Damascus in the book of Acts. Apostle Paul was a violent man who persecuted those who spoke the name of Jesus Christ but was later converted to take the gospel of Christ to the streets. Apostle Paul writes in 1 Timothy 1:12-16, "I think Christ Jesus our Lord who has given me strength that He considered me faithful appointing me to His service even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life."
If it wasn't for the grace of God that was poured down upon me abundantly I wouldn't be where I am today. I was born and raised in the West End of Greenville, TX. Most people would consider the West End of Greenville "The Hood" or "The Ghetto." I am the youngest of six and was VERY hard-headed. I thought I knew everything. When I turned 14 I wanted to be in the streets and do my own thing not listening to my parents or other adults in my life who loved me. I partied hard regularly with no regard to consequence. I was in a gang and involved with drugs. The bottom line is I should be in prison or dead right now. I've had friends who have killed other people and gone to prison leaving their children without a father and even worse, I've had friends who have lost their lives leaving their parents and children heart-broken.
When I was in my late 20's I was still up to no good. People invited me to church regularly. I later found out that they prayed for my salvation without me even knowing. When I was 29 I gave my life to Christ and realized that I was being called to ministry. Since then I have been involved in numerous outreach ministries within the church and abroad. I feel that God has set me apart from the world and called me to take the Gospel to the streets to reach the lost through the word of God. My focus is to build up as many Souljas as possible so that we can work together to defeat the enemy on the frontline to benefit the Kingdom of Heaven.
My prayer is that if you don't know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior that you come to know him today. In order to reach salvation you must have a willing heart and believe that Christ died on the cross for your sins - yours and mine. Just say a simple prayer asking God to come into your heart and repent of your sins so that you can be all that God has intended for you to be. Continue to have faith that God will fulfill His will through you. Get involved in a Bible-based church, spend time with God in His word (the Bible), pray daily that He will continue to give you guidance and surround yourself with Christian influence.
You've been away too long. It's time to come home. Why put off until tomorrow what you can do today. The great Martin Luther King once said, "We should be living our life as if Christ died yesterday, He rose up this morning and He's coming back tomorrow."
In Him, DJ Paul.
